Ladies and Gentlemen Start Your Ovens

It’s that time of the year again - holidays, family and lots of baking. is the time to test your oven to make sure the unit is working correctly.Temperature and calibration is often a concern. Most ovens are adjustable within 30 degrees Farenheit by the customer. Instructions on how to do so are usually found in the Use and Care Guide. If you don’t have your Use and Care Guide anymore, you can normally visit the Manufacturers website and download a copy. I generally advise this close to Thanksgiving, don’t self clean the oven until after the holiday. The self clean function of an oven puts the most stress on the unit and any weak components could fail. For those who just can’t wait though, do it early enough just in case that rare occasion arrises when a repair is needed.Note that even though each of us carry a large amount of parts on our truck, we can’t carry everything and if we have to order the part to complete your repair, we might need a few more days to receive it from our distributers.

Quick Thanksgiving Preparation Tips

1) It’s a good idea to clean out your fridge early before you do your major holiday grocery shopping. This way you won’t have groceries sitting out, waiting for available space in the fridge!
2) Sit down and make a cooking timeline, write down all the dishes that go in the oven, the temp they need and the cooking time. Then group things together so you’re not scrambling and overstuffing on the big day.
3) Another good idea is to chop and measure ingredients in advance to save time and mess on the big day.
Have a happy and stress free holiday!

GoodFellow Fund Title Graphic

Anytime of the year, giving to others is wonderful; but it seems especially so during the holiday season. The Goodfellow Fund is a holiday charity started by the Star-Telegram years ago. Designed specifically for children of school age in Tarrant county, this fund provides clothes and shoes for those in need.
The Goodfellow Fund depends on our donations to provide for all requests for help. In these uncertain times, these requests have sky-rocketed the past couple of years. Monetary donations are greatly appreciated, any gift truly needed. Even the offer of your precious time simply as a volunteer does so much to help our local kids.
To volunteer or obtain more information, call 817-921-9072, ext. 234. The processing center is located at the Star-Telegram Printing & Distribution Center, 685 John B. Sias Memorial Parkway, Fort Worth 76134. Or, mail your donations to:

It's Gonna Get Cold Out Soon!

Now is a good time to get an annual heating system inspection. Just like your car needs a tune up, so does your heating system. If it's been a few years since a heat specialist looked at your heating system, or it has sat unused for several months, find a local technician knowledgeable on your type of system and make an appointment. Having your heat system inspected will save you money in the long run, and can save you from costly heat malfunctions over the winter months. If your home has been vacant over the summer, having the heat system tuned up is a must, particularly on an aging system.

Call us today at 817-568-2866 to get scheduled now.

Happy Thanksgiving Day
